Objectives
ITRC would operate by nurturing the most promising leads in four unique verticals (diagnostics, therapeutics, vaccines and implementation research) which hold potential for commercialization. ITRC would also facilitate capacity building therefore advancing research leads into the final product to tackle TB.
The proposed objectives of ITRC would be as follows:
- To advance technology and product development by interdisciplinary approach throughout the value chain, viz: from lead with proof of concept, product development, product validation and commercialization
- To promote the development of tools (new diagnostics, new & improved vaccines, immunotherapies, and drugs for TB) by facilitating Public Private Partnership programmes
- To work closely with MOH & FW to understand needs and speed up translation of evidence to policy and bring new tools into public health practice
- To focus on building and strengthening scientific capacity for TB research
